A Qualicum Beach man is facing two charges of attempted murder after someone fired a number of shots at a residence, injuring a young man.

The shooting occurred early Saturday in north Qualicum Beach, said Cpl. Jesse Foreman of Oceanside RCMP. Several rounds were fired at the home from a high-powered rifle, he said.

A 22-year-old man, who was visiting the home at the time, was shot in the leg and airlifted to Royal Jubilee Hospital. A 44-yearold woman who was also in the home was unharmed.

Mounties pulled over a pickup at 1: 40 a.m. and found a loaded rifle.

A 56-year-old man was arrested.

The suspect will appear in Nanaimo provincial court on Tuesday. Oceanside RCMP are recommending he be charged with two counts of attempted murder.

Police believe the man went to the home of his former girlfriend and shot at the home.
