Update: A Port Alberni man with dementia who was reported missing on Wednesday has been found dead, RCMP said Saturday.
Brian Watkins, 83, was last seen driving in the Lakeshore Road area.
“The RCMP offers its condolences to the family and friends of the deceased,” said Const. Beth O’Connor of Port Alberni RCMP in a statement. No further details were released.

RCMP are searching for a Port Alberni man with dementia who was reported missing on Wednesday.
Brian Watkins, 83, was last seen driving in the Lakeshore Road area around 9 p.m. and hasn’t been heard from since.
Watkins is described as five-foot-11 and about 175 pounds, with short grey hair and blue eyes. He wears black-rimmed glasses.
Watkins drives a green Pontiac Sunfire with B.C. licence plate 742-DHH.
RCMP ask anyone with video footage from a home or business in the Lakeshore Road area or dash camera footage in the area of Lakeshore Road from 8:45 p.m. onward on Wednesday to call the Port Alberni detachment at 250-723-2424.
