Police received a report of the assault just after 8:30 p.m. Saturday on Transfer Beach Boulevard, at the railway tracks near Oyster Bay Drive.

The victim was shaken up but not physically injured, and is being supported by victim services, police said.

A police dog was brought in but could not locate the suspect, who is described as about five-foot-nine with a slim build and dark-coloured eyes, and wearing a black ski mask or balaclava, dark cargo pants and a dark top.

Const. Bryna Arrowsmith said police are asking anyone who was in the area of Transfer Beach/Oyster Bay Drive on the evening of Nov. 11 between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. to contact the Ladysmith RCMP, especially if they saw a person matching the description of the suspect, or anyone loitering in the area that evening.

Police are also looking for any dash-cam footage for that time and area.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Ladysmith RCMP at 250-245-2215.
