Foul play suspected in Pandora area death

The death is being investigated by the Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crimes Unit

Victoria police are investigating a death on Pandora Avenue in which foul play is suspected.

VicPD said officers responded to a call from B.C. Emergency Health Services at 3:45 a.m. Thursday about a man who was in medical distress in the 1000 block of Pandora.

The man was taken to hospital, where he died, police said.

The death is being investigated by the Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crimes Unit.

A secondary, eastbound lane in the 1000 block of Pandora Avenue was behind police tape on Thursday as officers investigated. The main westbound lanes remained open.

Saanich officers were crawling in grass outside Raincoast Business Centre Thursday morning searching for evidence, while Victoria officers guarded the perimeter of the taped-off area.

A man sheltering in the 900 block of Pandora Avenue named Austin said he heard a loud bang sometime Wednesday night, like a firecracker or a gunshot.

A large B.C. Ambulance container with items scattered around it was behind a second, smaller set of police tape within the larger area.
