Saanich police have released video-surveillance photographs from recent robberies at the Carey Road/Tillicum Road 7-Eleven store in an effort to generate information from the public.

Police believe a single person could be responsible for at least three of the four robberies. The string of crimes began June 25, with the most recent taking place on Saturday.

In the three incidents with possible connections, a man about 25 went into the store with a weapon. A screwdriver was used in the June 25 incident, a knife was used Sept. 10 and a tire iron Sept. 14.

No one was injured in any of the three cases.

Saturday’s robbery saw the store clerk call police about 5:45 a.m. to report the crime. A police dog team conducted an unsuccessful search for the man, who ran away.

Investigators talked to witnesses throughout the day and examined video footage of the incident. A forensic identification officer also gathered evidence at the scene.

Saanich police want to talk with anyone who may have seen a suspicious person in the area between 5:30 and 6 a.m. Saturday.

The suspect is believed to be white, between five foot seven and five foot 10 and of average build. He was wearing a brown hooded sweat shirt, a black bandana and sunglasses.

Saanich police ask anyone with information about the robberies to call them at 250-475-4321.
