Police release image of suspect vehicle in Port Alberni hit-and-run

Port Alberni RCMP have released a photo of a vehicle suspected to have failed to stop after hitting a 15-year-old who had just exited a school bus.

The student was struck about 3:30 p.m. on Feb. 21 at the corner of Beaver Creek Road and Smith Road, and sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect vehicle is a dark grey 2022-24 Hyundai Tucson SUV. The driver is described as a white female with light brown hair.

Police said there was a child in the passenger seat.

They said they are confident the driver will be identified but are calling for the woman to turn herself in.
