A young couple has been reunited with their lost dog, after finding it advertised online and contacting police.

Two Saanich residents who tried to sell the dog, meanwhile, were arrested Sunday. Saanich police are recommending that they face theft charges.

The couple lost their one-year-old blue nose pit bull, named Bieber, when it slipped its collar near Cordova Bay Road and Lochside Drive. They checked the Capital Region District Pound and SPCA before finding an ad on UsedVictoria.com for an “intact 15 month old Bluenose Pitbull.”

The sellers were asking $800 for the dog.

The couple contacted police, who shadowed the owners while they met the sellers in the parking lot of a local supermarket.

Police arrested a 32-year-old woman and 35-year old man. Both were released from custody and are scheduled to appear in court in mid-July.

Bieber appeared to be in good health and was happy to be reunited with his owners, according to police.
