Police look into reported assault in Courtenay

Comox Valley RCMP are investigating a report of a man being assaulted with a weapon in Courtenay on Sunday.

Officers responded to the area of 26th Street and Fitzgerald Avenue about 6 p.m. but were unable to locate the victim. They were told he is about 40, has glasses and was wearing a blue or grey hooded sweatshirt and jeans.

Police would like speak to the occupants of a red four-door SUV seen travelling west on 26th Street from Cliffe Avenue at the time of the report.

They would also like to speak to two male witnesses seen walking in the same direction on 26th Street, and are asking to see any video surveillance recorded between 6 and 7 p.m. along Fitzgerald Avenue between 26th and 19th streets.
