Police look for grey Hyundai Elantra in connection with fatal Duncan crash

B.C. RCMP spokesperson Cpl. James Grandy said police hope someone in the community will recognize the vehicle description and contact them.

Police in Duncan are looking for a grey Hyundai Elantra they believe might have fatally struck a pedestrian in a hit-and-run incident last week.

The vehicle, likely a 2011-13 model, likely has “significant damage” to the front driver’s side, North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP said.

B.C. RCMP spokesperson Cpl. James Grandy said police hope someone in the community will recognize the vehicle description and contact them.

“We are also urging the driver to come forward and speak with us.”

The woman died after being struck about 9:50 p.m. last Thursday on the Trans-Canada Highway near Green Road just north of Duncan.

Emergency crews arrived to find her dead at the scene.

The highway was closed for several hours as police investigated.
