Police investigate after student sexually assaulted in UVic bathroom

A man described as 60 or older and heavy-set sexually assaulted a male student, police said

Saanich police are investigating a sexual assault in a University of Victoria bathroom on Tuesday.

Police said a male student was in the men’s bathroom on the first floor of the Cornett Building when he was sexually assaulted by a man.

The perpetrator was described as 60 or older, white, with medium-length salt and pepper hair and a heavy build.

The university said the incident was reported to campus security on Wednesday.

The perpetrator has not been identified.

Campus security patrols the campus around the clock and will be closely monitoring the area, the university said.

It said anyone worried about their immediate safety can call 911 or campus security at 250-721-7599. Campus security will escort students around the campus if called.
