Police are investigating after an unknown pill was found in a candy haul after a family went trick-or-treating in Oak Bay.

The pill was discovered amongst the child’s Halloween treats during the candy sort on the floor of the family home.

Oak Bay Police said on social media that the unmarked capsule, about one inch long and filled with a brown-coloured powder, was not familiar to the family.

The family experienced nothing of concern or out of the ordinary during their 2 1/2-hour trick-or-treat outing in the Henderson neighbourhood, police said.

Their route included Lansdowne Road, Mid Downe Road, Larkdowne Road, Dean Avenue and Carnarvon Street, along with portions of Henderson Road.

No similar incidents have been reported, police said.

The report follows an incident in Colwood in which a homeowner misplaced some medication and feared they might have accidently handed it out to a trick-or-treater. The medication was eventually located in the home.
