Pedestrian struck and killed in Nanaimo by suspected impaired driver

A section of Boundary Avenue between Meredith Road and Nelson Street remained closed through the mid-afternoon as police examined the area.

A pedestrian died in Nanaimo Tuesday after being hit by a vehicle driven by a suspected impaired driver, Nanaimo RCMP said.

Police said the woman was struck about 12:30 p.m. at the intersection of Boundary Avenue and Meredith Road and died at the scene.

The driver was taken into custody.

A section of Boundary Avenue between Meredith Road and Nelson Street remained closed through the mid-afternoon as police examined the area.
