A pedestrian has been hit in a marked crosswalk in Victoria and taken to Victoria General Hospital.
The 51-year-old man was hit at about 8 a.m. today at Stanley and Fort streets, just beyond where Fort and Yates streets converge, according to Victoria police Const. Andy Dunstan. The extent of the mans injuries is unknown, said police.
A beige Ford F-150 truck was headed south when the man was struck. There is damage to the front left side of the vehicle. There are no flashing lights at the crosswalk but there are signs overhead indicating its a pedestrian crossing.
The drivers vehicle has been seized and remains at the scene. Police say its too early in the investigation to contemplate whether there will be charges.
Traffic was diverted at Fort and Yates streets almost up to Oak Bay Avenue at Fort Street and Belmont Avenue.
