Police were targeting distracted drivers along Douglas Street, near Hillside Ave, on Friday, March 11, 2016.

Police, volunteers and ICBC were out in force Friday for Operation Hang Up, an education and enforcement effort to get motorists to avoid distractions such as cellphones while driving.

Signs were set up at designated points to warn drivers, with police in place down the road to ticket anyone who did not heed the warning.

Distracted driving plays a role in one in four deaths on B.C. roads, according to ICBC and will be the focus of a police crackdown throughout March, which is Distracted Driving Awareness Month.
