One person is in hospital with life-threatening injuries following a two-vehicle crash in Saanich on Tuesday night where one car hit a tree and another hit a fence.
Saanich police responded to the crash in the 4100-block of Interurban Road just before 8:30 p.m.
The collision caused a white sedan to veer off the road, through some bushes, and crash into a tree. A grey sedan went over a curb and crashed into a fence.
The drivers were the only occupants of each vehicle, according to Saanich Const. Markus Anastasiades.
A preliminary police investigation determined that the driver of the grey sedan entered the roadway from a driveway and collided with a white sedan travelling southbound on Interurban Road.
One of the drivers sustained minor injuries and was transported to the hospital. The other driver sustained life-threatening injuries and remains in hospital, said police.
Interurban Road between Wilkinson Road and Grange Road was closed to all traffic until 4:30 a.m. Wednesday. The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
Anyone who witnessed the crash or events leading up to it is asked to contact Saanich police at 250-475-4321.
Police investigators are also seeking dash-camera footage of events leading up to the crash in the 4100-block of Interurban Road.
