The constituency offices of two Vancouver Island NDP MPs have been vandalized in recent days.

At the Parksville office of Gord Johns, MP for Courtenay-Alberni, vandals attacked the glass front door and two exterior windows, Oceanside RCMP Sgt. Shane Worth said Tuesday.

The damage occurred overnight at the office in the 1200 block Island Highway East, and was discovered Tuesday morning.

No one entered the office, Worth said.

It’s not known what was used to damage the windows.

In a statement, Johns said constituency office staff have been working hard to serve the community during the pandemic, and should not be “subjected to threatening or violent behaviour at their place of work.”

“Criminal acts are never appropriate and will not be tolerated,” he said.

The RCMP is seeking video footage of the area. Anyone with information is asked to call the detachment at 250-248-6111.

North Island-Powell River MP Rachel Blaney’s 10th Avenue office in Campbell River had anti-vaccine-mandate messages written and posted on the door and windows some time on Sunday night, an official from her office said.

Staff cleaned up the office on Monday morning. The matter was reported to the RCMP.
