What the Nose Knows, a work created by Burnaby artist Ron Simmer, is part of the ArtsAlive public art program, which has selected 13 sculptures for placement along Oak Bay Avenue, in Estevan Village, Willows Beach and Beach Drive at Lansdowne Road.
The Simmer sculpture is at the entrance to Lokier Garden, at Musgrave Street and Estevan Avenue.
On his website, Simmer says he uses mostly found and recycled materials for his sculptures. What the Nose Knows is made of fibreglass, aluminum, steel and reflective polycarbonate.
He describes the piece as a reflection on the nosiness of governments and corporations, who are intent on collecting information about citizens in ways that are often questionable.
