Nanaimo grocery store robbed by man armed with knife

The clerk at Superette Foods on Albert Street told police that a man wearing a mask entered the store with a knife in his hand and demanded money.

Nanaimo RCMP are searching for a suspect after a store clerk was robbed at knifepoint about 5:40 p.m. Thursday.

The clerk at Superette Foods on Albert Street told police that a man wearing a mask entered the store with a knife in his hand and demanded money.

Officers were at the scene within minutes but the suspect was not located.

They said the man was given an undisclosed amount on money and fled on foot, and was last seen running in the direction of Nicol Street.

An image from store video has been released. The suspect is described as white and in his mid-30s, and about five-foot-10 and 175 pounds. He had heavy stubble and was wearing a dark hoodie and gloves.
