B.C. Hydro crews are responding to a number of power outages affecting about 4,400 customers in Courtenay and on Denman and Hornby islands.
The utility said one of the outages in Courtenay was caused by a tree falling across a power line.
At one point on Tuesday evening, more than 7,500 customers were without power on the north Island.
