Metchosin man charged with uttering threats, careless use of firearm after shots fired

An unspecified amount of firearms and ammunition was seized from a home following the arrest, police said

The suspect remains in custody and has been charged with careless use of a firearm, possession of a firearm contrary to order, and uttering threats, West Shore RCMP said.

A 46-year-old man has been arrested in connection with reports of shots fired in a Metchosin residence on Sooke Road near Kangaroo Road last Wednesday.

West Shore RCMP said the man was taken into custody without incident by officers including members of the RCMP Emergency Response Team that evening.

The home was searched and an unspecified amount of firearms and ammunition was seized following the arrest, police said.

The suspect remains in custody and has been charged with careless use of a firearm, possession of a firearm contrary to order, and uttering threats.

His next court date is on Wednesday.
