Nelson Mendonca, the man Saanich police said was a scam artist, turned himself in Monday morning.

Mendonca, 34, was wanted on fraud charges relating to a landscaping scam dating back to January 2013, where he would take cash deposits from people without doing any of the landscaping or brick work promised.

Saanich police received complaints from three different people and issued an arrest warrant for Mendonca after he was identified as the prime suspect.

Police released his photo last week and warned people not to give him money.

Mendonca is set to appear in court this afternoon, facing three charges of fraud under $5,000.
