Two men were taken into police custody and two others were seriously injured after a fight broke out Saturday morning at a house party in Saanich.
Police responded to reports of a stabbing at a residence in the 3900 block of St. Peters Road, near Reynolds Secondary School, just before 4 a.m.
Saanich police arrived to find a chaotic scene with multiple victims, witnesses and suspects, said Sgt. Dean Jantzen.
A group of at least six young men had been drinking in the lower suite of the house, where two of them lived.
At some point, a fight broke out.
“Everybody involved sustained injuries,” Jantzen said.
A 31-year-old man was stabbed with a knife “of the kitchen variety,” he said.
“He had major wounds requiring stitches.”
A 43-year-old man who suffered serious injuries to his face was taken to hospital.
Police arrested two men: a 21-year-old resident of the home, who needed medical attention for his injuries, and a 22-year-old man found hiding when police arrived.
