A man was recovered without injury Sunday morning after his vessel began sinking near Boundary Pass, between Pender Island and Moresby Island.

It is unknown whether the 10-metre sailing vessel struck something in the water or if there was a major malfunction, said coast guard co-ordinator Andy Howell.

A vessel of opportunity arrived within 10 minutes and rescued the man. A Cormorant helicopter also passed by the scene as it was in the area.

The coast guard would not release his name or age.

The vessel was lost after the incident.
