Dominic Oyango Wandolo pleaded guilty Thursday to the daylight robbery at Paul Mara Jewellers last April.
Wandolo, who had been on trial in B.C. Supreme Court since Monday, pleaded guilty to robbing Douglas and Marsha Mara and their employee Tanya Sachowski at the Fort Street jewelry store on April 26, 2012. He also pleaded guilty to using an imitation firearm during a robbery.
Wandolo’s co-accused, Jacob Michael Werner, pleaded guilty on Monday to the same charges.
Earlier this week, the Maras testified that they were robbed and pepper-sprayed by two men who smashed their display cases and fled with more than $300,000 worth of watches and rings. Mara and his wife chased the men through downtown Victoria. Police arrested the suspects on the roof of the Bedford Regency Hotel.
Wandolo, 27, “had the opportunity to assess the weight of the evidence and make the right decision,” said his lawyer, Michael Munro.
Wandolo is to be sentenced March 13. Werner is to be sentenced March 15.
