RCMP are investigating a rollover crash on the Malahat near Mill Bay.

One man was injured after his car flipped and rolled from the Mill Bay off-ramp on the Malahat highway this morning.

Emergency crews rushed to the scene at 9:26 a.m. after calls that a black Volkswagen sedan had lost control and flipped as the driver navigated the off-ramp heading south.

“He went through a bit of a ditch, did a couple of flips and landed wheels up just between the off-ramp road and the Trans-Canada Highway,” said Mill Bay fire chief Ron Beck.

B.C. Ambulance paramedics and Shawnigan Lake RCMP were able to get the man safely out of the overturned car. He was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, Beck said.

The accident closed one lane of the highway for just under an hour while a tow truck removed the wreckage.

RCMP are still investigating the cause of the crash.
