A 25-year-old man is in police custody after a Saturday morning street-fight near Tillicum Centre.

The man allegedly pointed a replica handgun at a 57-year-old man after an argument turned physical.

Saanich police responded shortly after 7 a.m. to Burnside Road West and Tillicum Road.

They found the suspect’s friend, also 25, in the vicinity, along with the older man.

Both men in the fight received head and facial injuries. Police found the suspect, who was intoxicated, at Victoria General Hospital soon after the initial call.

“The two 25-year-olds were [intoxicated], but the 57-year-old was not,” said Staff Sgt. Scott Treble. “He was just walking home from work.”

Police are still unclear what caused the argument between the two 25-year-olds and the older man. The older man told police he did not know the younger men. Police recovered the air-powered pellet gun from a nearby home in the 200 block of Burnside Road West.
