Man at pool charged with sexual interference

A 47-year-old man who was arrested at Esquimalt Recreation Centre has been charged with three counts of sexual interference with a minor.

A 47-year-old man who was arrested at Esquimalt Recreation Centre has been charged with three counts of sexual interference with a minor.Victoria police arrested a man Thursday after they were alerted to complaints of a man touching young boys in the centre’s pool. The man was identified by the centre’s front-counter staff, who thought he matched a description given by one of the boys. Staff were on alert when they observed what they believed to be a criminal act in the pool and reported it to the police.Two other alleged offences had occurred on Wednesday.Darryl James Thompson of View Royal was released on bail of $5,000 with conditions that include no contact or communication with minors, unless approved in writing by an officer and with a third party present. He is prohibited from going to parks, playgrounds, swimming pools, recreation centres and day cares as well as other areas where children are present. The Special Victims Unit is still investigating.
