A 36-year-old Nanaimo man was arrested twice in four days for exposing himself in public, West Shore RCMP say.

On Sunday, Mounties responded to a report of a man exposing himself to several people, including children, in front of a restaurant in the 1800-block of Island Highway in Colwood.

A suspect was held in custody and appeared in court Monday. He was released on several conditions, including that he remain fully clothed in public and that he not expose his genitals in public.

On Wednesday afternoon, the same man was reported committing an indecent act in plain view of youth under the Six Mile Road bridge in View Royal, police said.

Officers arrested the man, who was also wanted at the time for failing to appear in court in relation to an indecent act in Burnaby in November.

He faces three counts of committing an indecent act, one count of indecent exposure to a minor and one count of failing to comply with conditions of his release.

He is set to appear in court on April 2.

“Sexual crimes against youths not only affect the victims, but can have lasting effects on the entire community. We are pleased to see this individual off the streets and want to thank the witnesses for their bravery in calling the police right away,” said Const. Andrew Matheson, media relations officer for West Shore RCMP.
