Man arrested in connection with Nanaimo assault

Around 7 a.m. Monday, Nanaimo RCMP received a report of man with serious injuries near the 300-block of Tenth Street.

The Nanaimo RCMP serious crime unit is investigating an aggravated assault after a man was found in medical distress on Tenth Street early Monday.

One man was arrested in connection with the incident.

Around 7 a.m., officers received a report of man with serious injuries near the 300-block of Tenth Street. They found the man and called B.C. Emergency Health Services paramedics who transported the victim to Nanaimo Regional Hospital. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Police are not looking for other suspects and do not believe there is a risk to the public, said Const. Mike Thompson.

On Tuesday, officers with the serious crime unit executed a search warrant at DBL Disposal Services on Tenth Street.

“The public should be aware that they will likely see an increased police presence in the area while the investigation continues,” said Thompson.
