Man arrested after Sidney business robbed, homeowner threatened

After taking the suspect into custody in connection with the robbery and uttering threats, police discovered he was wanted on three warrants for offences in Victoria, the Saanich Peninsula and the Fraser Valley.

A man was arrested after a Sidney business was robbed and a homeowner threatened on Wednesday.

Sidney/North Saanich RCMP said a man entered the business, demanded cash and threatened to shoot an employee — though he didn’t produce a weapon. He fled with an undisclosed amount of money.

A search was initiated by police, who then received a call from a homeowner in North Saanich who was being threatened by a man in his yard.

After taking the suspect into custody in connection with the robbery and uttering threats, police discovered he was wanted on three warrants for offences in Victoria, the Saanich Peninsula and the Fraser Valley.

A 43-year-old man of no fixed address is being held pending a court appearance.
