Man, 34, in hospital after shooting in Nanaimo Friday morning

A man is being treated in hospital after a shooting early Friday at a home in the 2300-block of Bowen Road in Nanaimo.

Nanaimo RCMP responded to the 2 a.m. shooting within minutes and located the 34-year-old victim.

Officers gave emergency first-aid until paramedics arrived to take over.

Const. Gary O’Brien said the incident is believed to have been targeted, with no further risk to the public.

Investigators can’t provide a description of the suspects or the vehicle they fled in due to the victim’s condition, O’Brien said.

Police have secured the home and forensic specialists are examining the scene.

Anyone who saw a vehicle in the area around the time of the shooting or has information about the incident is asked to call Nanaimo RCMP at 250-754-2345.
