Lost dog scam targets Courtenay seniors

The Comox Valley RCMP and Victim Services warn the public against allowing strangers into their homes. There are at least two reports this past week of a woman convincing people to let her into their homes, while looking for her lost dog.

There are at least two reports this past week of a woman convincing people to let her into their homes, while looking for her lost dog.

The woman, who targets the vulnerable and elderly, says she needs to get into thei homeowner’s backyard. After the stranger leaves the home, items have then been discovered stolen.

In one incident, it was the homeowner's wallet.

The suspect is described as a Caucasian woman with black hair. These incidents occurred in the area of Park Place and Grant Avenue in Courtenay.
