An investigation is underway after anti-police graffiti was found on the B.C. Law Enforcement Memorial at the legislature.

Legislative security found the acronym ACAB — which stands for All Cops Are Bastards — on the monument last weekend and reported it to Victoria police Thursday.

Erected in 2004, the memorial recognizes 129 officers who died in service to the public, including six from Victoria police.

“It’s incredibly disappointing and sad,” said Const. Cam MacIntyre. “There are officers of all backgrounds, men and women, all ethnicities, all religions represented on that monument.

“That is meant to honour their memory and it’s also something that the families can honour.”

Call Victoria police at 250-995-7654, extension 1, with any information or report anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
