The City of Colwood is advising visitors bringing children and pets to Lagoon Beach to use caution after a quantity of unknown medication was found on the popular beach.

On Monday morning, a clean-up crew found loose pills strewn along the tideline in the area beyond the washroom building at the south end of the beach, where Lagoon Road intersects with Ocean Boulevard.

Sandra Russell, communication manager with the City of Colwood, said parks staff removed all visible signs of the medication into six to eight garbage bags for safe disposal. “However visitors to the beach should use caution just beyond the washroom building, particularly with children and pets.”

The source of the spill has not been determined.
