The Island Highway between Helmcken Road and Burnside Road West has reopened after a break in the water main forced motorists onto the Trans-Canada Highway instead.
The rupture occured about 1:30 p.m., and the road reopened at 4:30 p.m.
The Capital Regional District said water access and quality won’t be affected. The line supplies water to Victoria and Oak Bay.
