The District of Sooke will have an interim chief administrative officer while current CAO Norm McInnis takes medical leave to undergo cancer treatment.

Mayor Maja Tait said McInnis has made a tremendous contribution to Sooke since 2019, and the district is standing with him as he undergoes treatment. He will be on leave as of Monday.

Don Schaffer, who previously worked with the district and is “familiar with the community” will be acting CAO in the interim.

“Norm is working with Mr. Schaffer, along with the district’s leadership team, to ensure a smooth transition for district staff and residents,” Tait said in a news release.
