A 49-year-old who who was not licensed to possess firearms was arrested and a loaded and illegally modified firearm was seized after a search warrant executed at a Parksville residence on Wednesday.
The search by Oceanside RCMP was linked to a firearms investigation.
Police said the firearm was also improperly stored.
“Modifications to firearms are extremely dangerous,” said Sgt. Shane Worth. “The Oceanside RCMP are pleased this firearm has been seized and removed from the community.”
