RCMP believe human remains found in an Bella Coola estuary Saturday are connected to a boating capsizing that took the life of a Victoria man, his wife and a fishing guide in August.

Cpl. Madonna Saunderson said the identity of the remains has not been confirmed, but efforts are underway to determine identity. Foul play is not suspected.

Victoria couple Andrea and Cameron Murdoch died when their boat capsized during a guided trip on the Bella Coola River on Aug. 10. Cameron’s body was recovered downstream of Walker Island. The bodies of Andrea and the fishing guide were not found.

The Murdochs had travelled to Bella Coola to celebrate their 10th wedding anniversary. They hired a boat for a four-hour fishing trip. The boat was last seen at the confluence of the Salloompt and Bella Coola rivers, where they had stopped to fish. It was later spotted adrift without occupants near Walker Island.
