The man charged in the attempted abduction of a 17-year-old female in Saanich was scheduled to be in court Thursday, but his appearance was adjourned until Dec. 20.

Kian Chong, 34, will be held at the Vancouver Island Regional Correctional Centre, said defence lawyer Martin Allen.

Chong appeared in court Tuesday via a telebail hearing. He has been charged with attempted kidnapping and assault causing bodily harm.

A masked man tried to pull the 17-year-old into a van on De Sousa Place in Gordon Head on Monday night. A second 17-year-old female intervened and was assaulted.

Saanich police said the man and the first teen are known to each other.

Meanwhile, police are still looking for clothing the man might have stashed during his attempt to flee. Investigators believe the clothes are likely to be in the area of Hillside Avenue, between Shelbourne Street and Doncaster Drive.

Saanich police ask anyone who may have picked up the clothing to contact them at 250-475-4356.
