A black and white Focus mountain bike valued at more than $1,000 was stolen in a ‘smash and grab’ at Broad Street Cycles early this morning.

Victoria police were called to the downtown bike shop at 1419 Broad Street at 1:30 a.m. They arrived within minutes to find the store’s front window smashed with a rock and a bike missing.

The high-end mountain bike is a Focus Black Forest 29R. It did not have pedals at the time.

Officers believe the thief might have used a vehicle for a quick getaway.

They said a witness gave a description of a possible suspect, described as a short man with dark hair and of average height.
