The Greater Victoria Public Library is offering cardholders free access to the digital version of The New York Times.

Cardholders have unlimited access to the digital version of the daily newspaper, along with popular games such as Wordle and multimedia content, as of this week

The New York Times is one of the world’s most recognized and influential English-language newspapers, and we are pleased to provide free digital access to The New York Times for our patrons through gvpl.ca,” said Maureen Sawa, CEO of Greater Victoria Public Library.

GVPL says it’s the first public library in the province to offer access to the full range of digital products offered by the New York Times.

To access the site, find the NY Times icon on the gvpl.ca homepage. Click on that icon and follow the prompts to enter your library card number and create an account using an email address and password.

Anyone encountering difficulty can call the library’s customer service team to walk them through the process. Staff are available 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday to Saturday at 250-940-4875.

Residents and property owners in Greater Victoria can get a free library card in person at any Greater Victoria Public Library branch or online. For more information, go to gvpl.ca.
