Victoria police detained four people today after multiple shots were fired on Constance Avenue about 1:45 a.m. in what appears to be a targetted incident.

No one was injured and Victoria police said there does not appear to be any ongoing danger to the public.

The shots were fired on the stretch of Constance Avenue between Esquimalt Road and Lyall Street. Police said it is unclear what was being shot at, but at least one vehicle was hit by a bullet.

Police responded after 911 calls were received. The Greater Victoria Emergency Response Team was brought in to provide assistance.

Shell casings and rounds were located. Officers were working behind police tape and, as the morning wore on, they were active outside a complex at 519 Constance Ave., close to a black truck.

There is no indication whether the complex or the truck are connected to the case.
