Four people have been charged after an erratic driving complaint near Black Creek on Monday led police to a robbery investigation.

The suspects, all from the Lower Mainland, range in age from 18 to 23. Their next court appearance is scheduled for Nov. 20.

Police released no further details, other than to say they are dealing with a “targeted incident.”

Comox Valley RCMP had previously said that they received a report of erratic driving about 10:40 a.m. Monday, with one driver reportedly chasing another on Highway 19 near Black Creek.

A major police response followed after a caller told police the chase could be the result of an armed robbery.

Officers from the Comox Valley and Campbell River RCMP and the B.C. Highway Patrol found a suspect vehicle near Cranberry Lane.

Four suspects were located and arrested.

The case involved co-operation among the Comox Valley and Campbell River RCMP, the B.C. Highway Patrol, the Island District Emergency Response Team, and the RCMP’s police-dog and air services, said Comox Valley RCMP Const. Monika Terragni.
