Nanaimo RCMP broke up what they believe to be a shoplifting ring after carrying out a search warrant about 11:15 a.m. Monday.

The search at a residence on Prince Charles Street in Nanaimo turned up an estimated $20,000 in stolen clothing and led to four arrests. Police think those involved in stealing the clothing have been targeting stores in both Nanaimo and Victoria, and officers are working with various companies in an effort to determine where the clothes are from.

Police arrested two men, ages 40 and 20, and two women, ages 39 and 19, all from Nanaimo. The four accused are scheduled to appear in court Tuesday.
