Duncan’s B.C. Forest Discovery Centre is set to reopen, gradually, starting today.

The 40-hectare facility, operated by the B.C. Forest Museum, chronicles the history of logging on Vancouver Island with displays and an operating train on 2.5 kilometres of narrow-gauge track.

The opening is accompanied by safety protocols.

All events usually offered in the summer have been cancelled, and the opening of the playground and major fall and winter events are on hold.

Admission will be $5 until June 22. Unless otherwise noted, the facility will be open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday to Monday.

The grounds, main building, washrooms and the schoolhouse will be the first areas to open June 12 to 15. The grounds, most major buildings and limited concession follow June 18 to 22.

The first train rides of the year, with limited seating and proper social-distancing, begin June 25.

The centre is at 2892 Drinkwater Rd., Duncan. For more information, go to bcforestdiscoverycentre.com.
