A fire destroyed an RV parked in the Burnside-Gorge neighbourhood early Monday.

No one was injured in the blaze in the 3000-block of Balfour Avenue.

At about 2. a.m., the Victoria Fire Department’s Engine 3 and Squad 2 arrived to find the RV engulfed in flames. Crews initially used tank water from the engine and then secured a hydrant water source to hit the blaze from two angles.

The department said three loud explosions were heard as the vehicle’s tires ruptured, and firefighters kept a distance knowing the vehicle was equipped with propane tanks.

The department said high flames scorched a nearby tree and a home’s telecom wires were set on fire, but the crews were able to stop the flames from spreading.
