Fire damages Langford home Wednesday

Langford Fire Rescue put out a house fire late Wednesday afternoon after a father and a his 10-year-old daughter spotted smoke coming from a residence on Falcon Heights Road. They called 911 shortly before 5 p.m.
Langford Fire Rescue put out a house fire late Wednesday afternoon after a father and a his 10-year-old daughter spotted smoke coming from a residence on Falcon Heights Road.

They called 911 shortly before 5 p.m. and firefighters arrived in time to contain the blaze to a single room in the three-storey home, Capt. Chris Aubrey said.

The crew put out the fire within about 15 minutes.

There was nobody in the house at the time, Aubrey said. Two cats were unharmed.

He estimated the damage at about $10,000, mostly due to smoke.

The cause is still under investigation.
