There were no injuries in a Monday afternoon house fire on Metchosin Road, near the Colwood Fire Hall.
The northbound lane was temporarily shut down before being reopened by mid-afternoon.
Colwood Assistant Chief Greg Chow said the call about the incident came in about 12:55 p.m. as a burning complaint.
“As we rolled up on scene, it was more than that and we upgraded it to a possible structure fire.”
That brought firefighters from Langford and View Royal to the scene, he said.
Chow said there was significant damage to the chimney area.
The cause is still under investigation.
