Christine Lervold will fill the Sooke School Board seat vacated by Ravi Parmar after he became MLA for Langford-Juan de Fuca.

Lervold, who finished just out of the running in last October’s school board election, was the lone candidate who stepped up after Parmar officially resigned from the board on July 27 following his election to provincial office.

She will take the oath of office before the next board meeting on Sept. 26.

A trustee byelection had been scheduled for Oct. 14.

Lervold is a former Sooke School District student and is the mother of two recent graduates of the district’s Belmont Secondary. She is also a former teacher, and now runs a technology-consulting company.

Her mother is five-term trustee Dianna Seaton, who did not run in 2022, while her father, Lanny Seaton, served on Langford council from 1996 to 2022.
