A man with a gun walked into the Petro-Canada gas station near Elk Lake around 4 a.m. today and demanded cash from the store’s lone female employee.

Saanich police said the man left the store with cash and ran toward the highway. No one was injured in the exchange, though the 34-year-old clerk was “very shaken,” said Sgt. Scott Treble in a release.

Saanich police and the Victoria police canine unit searched for the man but think he might have driven away.

They are looking for a white man in his 30s who is about five foot seven with a thin build and short, dark hair.

He has tattoos on both sides of his neck, on the tops of his hands and on his left forearm. He might also have a black right eye.

He was wearing a green and yellow trucker cap, black shirt and jeans.

If you have any information, call Saanich police at 250-475-4321.
